Obsidian Cryogenics Method

OCM

Overview

The OCM is a method by which currently objects, and possibly creatures, can be stored in Obsidian. While its usage is currently limited, it is hoped that the method will prove useful for emergency containment methods, as it cannot be broken out of in any known way.

Steps

  1. Fill an area with water, preferibly 3/7 or under if using living specimens, with your chosen fill method.
  2. Pour Lava over the top of the water line, turning the area occupied by water into Obsidian, and trapping the subject inside.
  3. Dig out the Obsidian. You may immediately free the specimen by digging away the Obsidian surrounding them, or leave them for further dates. It is unclear, but assumed that Dwarves will still require food and drink when frozen.

Troubleshooting

Due to testing having only taken place within cages at this time, it would be wise to consider the effects of steam on a freed creature. It is recommended to make said creature to stand in a 1x1 area, through means of a specially-designed area, preferribly with a Bauxite door.

Issues and Notes

The Warp utility could possibly be used to emulate this activity by placing a Dwarf in an area occupied by stone.
